Playwright Terry Teachout presented a bold, fresh take on Louis Armstrong in this wonderful one-man play. Anchoring our campaign was a tagline that ensured that the words "Louis" and "Armstrong" made their way onto all collateral: "AMERICA WAS CHANGING. LOUIS ARMSTRONG PLAYED ON." The line was my way of summing up one of the play's central questions: When the world is rapidly evolving, how does an artist change with it? And should they?

One-man shows can be a tricky sell (audiences perceive them as small), so we emphasized the emotional size of the piece as well as the towering performance of the great John Douglas Thompson.
